| Sandra Thompson, painter of Palm Beach scenes, thanks you for seeking her unique perspective. Her views of Palm Beach and beyond are becoming legendary. She may become the Palm Beach version of Grandma Moses although her colorful paintings and fine line renderings, while more literal, capture the essence of the subject. Sandra Thompson grew up in Sea Cliff, on the North Shore of Long Island. She attended Cooper Union in Manhattan and worked for Grey Advertising, Chanel Inc. and Redbook Magazine before moving to Fort Lauderdale in the early 60s where she became Editorial Artist for the Fort Lauderdale News and Sun Sentinel. Thompson retired to Palm Beach, where a hiatus from art took her into writing memoirs and biographies and even histories of local interest. After writing for ten years, she returned to painting and producing highly detailed ink renderings. The first painting, one of many which has become her Palm Beach series, is "View From 220". That image was the first Thompson to adorn the cover of the Palm Beach Real Estate Guide. There have been many guide covers since and well over 100 Palm Beach scenes accomplished. She is prolific in capturing foliage as well as interior treasures and her portfolio includes views of Lake Worth, South Beach, Las Vegas and Manhattan's Central Park. Using a wide angle lens to distort dramatically without losing the essence of subject, Sandra has a wonderful eye for light and shadow and prefers using her own photography although she can capture anything that she can see. She performs commissions and is gaining a reputation for providing custom fine art in a style that is bordering on Impressionism - something she calls "painterly". Her work will enhance anyone's collection of art and provide great pleasure particularly in capturing that special place or object in the lifestyle of those who appreciate the beauty that fills their environment. Enjoy the imagery that is uniquely SANDRA THOMPSON. |
